Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) incidence is widely increasing in pediatric populations in the past decade. This systematic

review and meta-analysis were conducted according to the widely accepted Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and

Meta-analyses statement (PRISMA). On 20th November 2019, we searched for relevant articles in six electronic databases. Papers

reporting iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) in IBD patients, published articles after 2015 were only included. After screening 723

papers, we found 10 eligible studies with a male prevalence of 50%. The prevalence of IDA in IBA patients ranged from 8% to 52%.

Moreover, treatment with iron supplementation showed good efficacy for the correction of IDA. Noteworthy, IDA in IBD is not rare.

Therefore, more care should be devoted to diagnosis and treatment of IDA in IBD patients.
